The A-R-T-S Teaching System is an educational framework designed to cultivate children’s creative intelligence, spatial awareness, and independent thinking through a four-stage cognitive and artistic methodology. A-R-T-S stands for Awareness, Reflection, Transformation, and Solution. Author: Xin Liu (Leo Liu)
A-R-T-S 方法論是一套以「覺察、反思、轉化、實現」為核心的兒童藝術與創造力教育系統。它強調從感知到理解,再到組合與解決的完整思維鏈條,旨在建立孩子的空間智能、創造力、自信與解決問題能力。此系統由藝術家兼教育者劉欣(Xin Liu)在加拿大 PEI 開發,並已累積超過一百小時以上的教學實踐。
1. Awareness(覺察)
Awareness refers to the child’s ability to perceive the world through senses, emotions, light, sound, temperature, time, and interpersonal atmosphere. It is the foundation of creative cognition.
覺察是對世界的敏感度,不僅是看到,更是感受光線、聲音、氣味、溫度、情緒、人際關係與時間節奏。教學目標是讓孩子真正看見事物之間的關係和內在結構,而非只看到表面。
2. Reflection(反思 / 思考)
Reflection helps children interpret their perceptions. They learn to ask questions such as: Why is it like this? What patterns exist? What does this remind me of?
反思讓孩子把感覺變成理解。孩子會開始提問:為什麼?像什麼?讓我想到什麼?規律是什麼?反思是將覺察轉為思想的橋樑。
3. Transformation(轉化 / 組合)
Transformation is the creative reorganization of observed elements into new structures. Imagination, abstraction, metaphor, and creativity enter at this stage.
轉化是把覺察到的內容重新排列組合,產生新的語言與結構。例如把景物轉化為幾何,把冰球動作變成線條節奏,把情緒轉成色彩,把所見轉成符號。孩子的創造力在此階段自然形成。
4. Solution(實現 )
Solution refers to turning ideas into finished creative outcomes. The focus is on execution, decision-making, and confidence rather than technical perfection.
實現指把想法具體化,包含如何選材料、如何開始第一筆、如何面對困難調整策略、如何完成作品、如何向他人展示成果。此階段建立孩子的自信,也是最能量化成長的部分。
Teaching Flow / 教學流程
The A-R-T-S System follows a four-step repeatable process:
1. Stimulate Awareness – observation tasks, sensory games, environmental noticing.
2. Guide Reflection – discussions, analogy exercises, visual intelligence development.
3. Activate Transformation – abstraction, metaphor training, creative structure building.
4. Support Solution – artwork completion, revision, presentation, and self-expression.
A-R-T-S 教學流程包括:
覺察:觀察遊戲、感知任務、環境細節捕捉。
反思:對話、比喻訓練、視覺智能練習。
轉化:抽象化、組合創造、概念結構化練習。
實現:作品落地、展示討論、策略調整、建立信心。
Application Scope / 應用範圍
The A-R-T-S System is applied in LAB Creative Cognition Classes, Honor Class (advanced art school preparation), community art education, summer/winter camps, and multidisciplinary creative programs.
